From the manufacturer
Oil – only as good as the filter that cares for it…
Oil is the lifeblood of an engine because engines rely on clean, pressurized circulating oil to lubricate the bearings and camshaft gears while preventing direct contact. The oil also aids cooling by dissipating heat from the pistons, cylinders and turbochargers.
Most vehicle manufacturers make recommendations for oil change intervals based on average driving conditions. However, with frequent cold starts and short distance rides, the oil does not reach the temperatures required for contaminants such as moisture and unburned fuel to evaporate, significantly reducing oil quality and requiring more frequent changes.
Direct injection petrol engines also produce particles that enter the oil and form deposits on important engine components. That is why the quality of the oil and the filters is very important.
Engine oil requires a high-quality filter to prevent the microscopic wear particles and impurities circulating in the oil from settling on the bearing surfaces.
1. Filter medium / paper
The filter medium or filter paper fulfils the most important task in the filter: It must be sufficiently powerful and durable to intercept and retain contaminants for the entire duration between service intervals. And they can be very long on modern vehicles.
2. Non-return valve
With interchangeable filters, a silicone membrane is built in, which ensures that the oil can only flow through the filter in one direction. This prevents oil from flowing back from the filter through the pump after the engine is switched off. This ensures that when the vehicle is started, the oil pressure increases quickly and the wear of the engine is kept low.
3. bypass valve
The bypass valve performs two tasks: It protects the filter medium at engine start and, in the event of an added filter medium, allows unfiltered oil to flow past the filter so that the engine does not run dry. The decisive factor is the pressure at which the bypass valve opens. Too high pressure can cause the filter medium to be crushed under the load or no oil is available to the engine when starting. Too low pressure means that the bypass valve opens before the filter performance is fully exhausted within the framework of the filter’s service life. In this case, no filtration takes place and the motor wears out much faster.

Original equipment quality
Blue Print oil filters are manufactured with premium quality filter media and materials to ensure the lowest possible engine wear and a long service life. The latter is required in view of the sometimes very long service intervals of modern vehicles. Always make sure that the oil and oil filter are replaced at the intervals recommended by the vehicle manufacturer and oil of the correct class and specification is used.
All Blue Print oil filters are made with a high quality filter medium. Therefore, they have the performance and capacity required for optimal engine protection between extended service intervals. Proper operation under cold start conditions for maximum lubrication. This prevents metal rubbing on metal in the bearings and cam gear.
A high-quality non-return valve prevents oil from running back into the pump. As a result, the oil pressure builds up quickly when cold starts.
The precisely designed bypass valve ensures a constant oil supply, even when engine starts and when the filter is added. The filters protect important engine parts from wear particles, including Dust and soot from the combustion so the engine lasts longer
